Rock Creek campgrounds- Best Camping Gear Reviews has camped in many beautiful campgrounds, but some of the nicest have been in the Rock Creek area. For those of you that don’t know where Rock Creek is it in the Eastern Sierra mountain range in California, not too far from Mammoth.

East Fork Campground is one of the most popular campgrounds in Rock Creek. With 133 camping sites, there is definitely one that can accommodate your Kelty camping tents!

French Camp is the closest campground to the highway. Don’t let that misguide you. It is still 7,100 feet above sea level so you will definitely see some good views with your Brunton binoculars. Another nice aspect of the French Camp is that it is very close to the popular Tom’s Place. Tom’s Place has a great little restaurant with excellent milkshakes and a little camping gear store.

Rock Creek Lake’s campground is right on the lake. This campground has amazing views and excellent fishing. You will definitely want to bring your Coleman coolers because you are going to catch some nice fish!

There is only cold water available so you are going to have to bring a Camp Chef grill to heat your water up for showers and cooking. Sorry for the long lapse in posts fellow campers. I have been extremely busy over the last month. The camping gear website has taken off so much and I have been considering upgrading it. I have talked to several people who have recommended some cheap PHP web hosting and cheap MySQL web hosting to me, but I have no clue on which one to use!

Anyways back to what I do know! Texas has tons of nice campgrounds. In addition to the campgrounds, they have several nice camping gear stores, often located near the campgrounds. Campgrounds in the Targhee National Forest

Idaho has some beautiful campgrounds to set your camping gear up at. The Targhee National Forest is no exception. There are several campgrounds in the Targhee National Forest for your enjoyment.

Targhee National Forest, Buffalo Campground
Located in Island Park, Idaho. From the town go ½ mile north on the US 20 then ¼ mile east on FR 138.

Buffalo Campground features 105 campsites and is open from May to October. The campground also features grills, picnic tables, fire rings, river swimming, and fishing. There is a 16 day maximum stay at the Buffalo Campground. With Buffalo campground so close to town, it is nice in case you forgot any of your camping equipment because you can stop in town at one of the local camping gear stores and pick up the item you forgot.

Targhee National Forest, Buttermilk Campground
Located in Island Park, Idaho. From the intersection of US 20 and CR 30, go ¾ miles northwest on CR 30. Then head 3 ½ miles southwest on FR 126.

Buttermilk campground is open from May 14 to September 15. The campground has 52 tent sites, grills, picnic tables, and fire rings. For fun you can swim in the lake, fish, or take some nice hikes. The lake features a boat ramp and boat dock. This is a nice, small campground to set your up Big Agnes camping tent and enjoy the views.

Targhee National Forest, McCrea Bridge Campground
Located in Island Park, Idaho. From the junction of US 20 and CR 30 go 3 miles northwest on CR30.

McCrea Bridge campground is open from Memorial Day to September 15. They feature 23 sites. Each site is equipped with a grill, picnic table, and fire ring. There is a lake on site for swimming or fishing. The lake also features a boat dock and boat ramp. There are no showers at the campground. With some nice hiking in the area, McCrea Bridge campground is a great place to hike. Don’t forget your Garmin GPS and Motorola 2-way radios so you don’t get lost.

I know that a lot of campers have their favorite campground that they go to, but I also know that there are a lot of campers that like to visit as many campgrounds as possible. If you are the type that likes to travel as much as possible, then you need to look into joining a campground association like All Campgrounds For Less.
All Campgrounds For Less offers a 25% discount off of your fees at certain campground locations. They have locations in 32 states across the US.

On a site note, our camping gear website gets a lot of emails asking us about our camping equipment that we review and how it can effect them. When you pick a campground you need to know what camping equipment to pack with you. You aren't going to pack your Kelty camping tent if you are going to a cabin campground, where you are going to pack your Camp Chef grill if you are going to a beach campground since they usually don't have all the imenities. So what we can recommend is that you pack the appropriate camping gear for the campground that you have choosen.

Sorry that the campground blog hasn't been updated that much over the last few days. I have been out of town on training for my main job. I'm up in Costa Mesa, CA and I can't believe how many camping gear stores and police gear stores that are in Costa Mesa. As a police officer, I enjoy looking at new police equipment at the stores. Even more, I enjoy looking at all the new camping equipment. It relaxes me so much and takes my mind off of my work.

Lake Mead Campgrounds

Lake Mead National Park has some of the most beautiful campgrounds to offer if you are looking to stay on a lake. Lake Mead National Park is open year round and offers boating, swimming, fishing, and hiking. The park is so huge that it spans from Nevada to Arizona and has several major lakes connected by the Colorado River. At most of the major docks, you will find a camping gear store to assist you if you forgot any of your camping equipment. While there are many campgrounds on Lake Mead, here are my two favorite.

Katherine Landing Campground
Located just north of Laughlin, Nevada

Katherine Landing is on Lake Mohave. The campground is at a low elevation making the summer months hot and the winter months enjoyable. The campground features spots for your Kelty camping tents, restrooms, running water, dump stations, and much more. Another feature is that Laughlin is about 15 minutes away if you break away from the campsite and have some fun at nighttime. Cost to stay here is about $5-$10 a night.

Overton Beach Marina
Located on the north tip of Lake Mead

Overton Beach is on the north tip of Lake Mead where the Virgin River enters Lake Mead. The campground features tent camping, restrooms, boat launch, and fish cleaning station. Make sure you bring your Camp Chef grill to cook dinner on. The marina has been closed and moved to another location due to the low level of water. Before heading out there, give them a call to make sure the campground has not moved also.

Emigrant Wilderness is on the northern border of Yosemite National Park. The park features volcanic ridges, beautiful clear lakes, and some of the best hiking in the Yosemite National Park. With over 185 miles of trials, it’s easy to get lost so make sure you pack your Garmin GPS with your camping equipment.

Grand Staircase – Escalante National Monument, Utah

Grand Staircase is about 80 miles east of Zion National Park. The park features waterfalls, cacti, and cottonwoods. There are several areas within the 1.9 million acres of open space to set up the Kelty tents up and enjoy the beautiful views.

If you are looking for some excellent fly fishing, the Harriman State Park is perfect for you. There are several streams that are loaded with fish. Rio Grande National Forest campgrounds

The Rio Grande National Forest has some nice campgrounds. The Rio Grande National Forest is located in Antonito, Colorado. Since it is the forest, it is important to bring all of your camping gear with you since camping equipment stores aren’t readily available.

Aspen Glade campground
Located on Highway 17 about 17 miles west of the US-285 and Hwy 17.

Aspen Glade campground is open from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. There is fishing on site so make sure you bring your Coleman cooler to ice your catch! The campground features camping grills, picnic tables, fishing, and hiking. There are no showers so you will have to rough it out! Rates are about $15 a day with a maximum stay of 14 days.

From Antonito, go 23 miles west on Highway 17 and then 1 mile on FR 128.

Elk Creek campground is situated near Elk Creek. The campground features hiking, fishing, a boat ramp, canoeing, and boating. There are 42 sites at the campground. If you are going to do some camping, make sure you bring your Garmin GPS so you don’t get lost!

Acworth, Georgia has several good campgrounds. The campgrounds all have the feel of being far away from the city, but are really close to the city which makes it nice in case you forgot any of your camping equipment.

McKinney campground
From Junction I-75 (exit 121/278) and Glade Rd: Go 4 miles northeast on Glade Rd, then 3/4 miles west on King's Camp Rd and follow signs.

McKinney campground has 150 camping sites. The campground is open year for tent camping. McKinney campground features laundry, camping grills, picnic tables, and fire rings. You can also enjoy swimming in the lake, fishing, or boating. There is a boat dock on site.

Military Park campground
From Interstate I-75 go 4 miles south on Sandtown Road.

Military Park campground is open to military personnel only. The campground features a camping equipment store, picnic tables, fire rings, and a playground for the kids. For fun, make sure you try the canoeing or a friendly game of softball on the sports field! One nice feature is that the store sells limited groceries also in case you forgot anything when cooking dinner on your Camp Chef camping grill.

Payne campground
From Junction I-75 (exit 120/277) and Hwy 92: Go 1 mile north on Hwy 92, then 2¾ miles west on Kellogg Creek Rd.

Payne campground is open from April 1 to Labor Day. Pets are welcomed at this campground. The campground features lake swimming, fishing, a playground, and a boat dock. No ATV’s or ORV’s are allowed.

Campgrounds in Kauai, Hawaii

Everybody knows how beautiful Hawaii is, but imagine how relaxing it is camping on the beach in Hawaii. While most campgrounds in Hawaii don’t have a lot of amenities, it is important that you pack all of your camping gear with you. The first island in Hawaii to be talked about is Kauai. Kauai has some of the most beautiful sceneries so make sure you pack your Brunton binoculars.

Ha’ena Beach Park

Ha’ena Beach park features on site fishing, grills, picnic tables, and cold shower stalls. Even though the park has grills, it is still important to bring you’re a good camping grill like the Camp Chef camping grill due to the limited number of grills on site. There is a fee of $3-$5 per person per day.

Hanamaulu Beach Park
Located one mile east of Highway 56 (Hanamaula)

Hanamaulu Beach park allows self contained units and tent camping. While having a self contained unit is nice, you can beat the views under the stars at night while camping in your Kelty camping tent.

Niumalu Park
Located 3 miles southwest on Highway 58 from the junction of Highway 56 and 58.

Niumalu Park has picnic tables, grills, boat ramp, play equipment, and cold shower stalls. Niumalu Park does not allow pets.

Spokane, Washington campgrounds

Spokane, Washington has some beautiful campgrounds. Here are a couple of campgrounds in Spokane. Make sure you bring all your camping gear because there aren’t any camping equipment stores at the campgrounds.

Alderwood RV Resort

Alderwood RV resort is Spokane’s premiere RV resort. They offer large pull thrus that can accommodate RV’s up to 70 feet, 30/50 amp service, and close to lakes, fishing, and scenic mountains that are great to see through your Bushnell binoculars!

Riverside State Park
Located in the northwest area of Spokane, Washington near the Spokane and Little Spokane rivers in Spokane County.

Riverside State park is one of the most beautiful campgrounds in Washington. It is situated on a river that provides excellent views. Riverside State park allows tent camping so make sure you bring your Bibler camping tent! In addition to the tent sites, the park also features picnic facilities. If having a picnic, make sure you bring your Camp Chef camping grill because the picnic facilities have no electricity.

Rocksprings, Wyoming campgrounds

Rocksprings, Wyoming is a great place to stay and visit. With the surrounding mountains and views it is relaxing.

Firehole Canyon

Firehole Canyon is located off of Forest Road 106. Each campsite offers a fire ring, cabana, and picnic table. There is also a boat ramp, beach area, and dump station. Should you forget to bring ice for your Coleman cooler, you can purchase it at the camping gear store onsite. Fees are about $16 a night.

Rock Springs KOA

Rock Springs KOA has all the amenities you could ask for. There is plenty of room to set up your Bibler camping tent or sleep inside your RV. Bring your Bushnell binoculars because there is a great chance that you will see some wild horses near the campground. Fees are about $32 a night.

Sweetwater Fairgrounds

Sweetwater Fairgrounds is the place to stay when events are happening. They feature over 120 parking stalls for RV’s, horseshoe pits, electrical hookups, and fishing ponds. Nightly rates are about $25.00.

St George, Utah campgrounds

Here are some campgrounds in the area of St George, Utah. If you have never been to St George, it is beautiful. All the amenities you could ask for are in St George, camping gear stores, restaurants, golf courses, and much more. Pack the car or RV with all of your camping equipment and start driving!

Quail Creek State Park

Quail Creek State Park provides excellent year round camping, boating, and fishing. There are 23 campsites, new restrooms, and a fish cleaning station for all the fish you catch on the beautiful lake! At 3,300 ft you will enjoy beautiful views. The park can accommodate RV’s up to 35 feet and also tents. Camping costs about $13 a day here.

Snow Canyon State Park

Snow Canyon State park is a perfect campground for photography, hiking, biking, and tent camping. Make sure you bring a small Coleman cooler for you hiking trips! At the entrance of the canyon are two recent volcanic cones. The park allows RV’s up to 35 feet, has new restrooms, hot showers, electric hookups, and a sewage disposal station. Give this campground a try in you Bibler camping tent. You won’t be disappointed.

Designed specifically for RV’s, this campground has over 260 spacious sites with full hook ups, 50 of them being pull through! There are some areas of the campground that allow tent camping if you desire. Close to shops in case you forgot any of your camping gear.

San Diego Campgrounds

There are so many wonderful campgrounds in San Diego. Many of the campgrounds offer RV hookups in addition to allowing camping tents. Some of the campgrounds have stores on site in case you forgot any of the common camping gear. Below are some of the campgrounds in San Diego that are near the beach. Bring your sunscreen!

Campland on the Bay

Campland in the bay is right on the waters of Mission Bay. There are plenty of amenities including; RV hookups, sites for camping tents, Café, laundry, and much more. Watersports are allowed on the bay so make sure you bring your jet skis and your favorite pair of Bushnell binoculars to watch all the acitivity on the water!

San Elijo State Beach

San Elijo State beach is right on the beach so make sure you bring your Bibler camping tent. San Elijo State beach is close to Carlsbad so if you are looking for something other than the beach to do, Legoland California is close by. In addition to that there are plenty of stores nearby, some of which are camping gear stores in case you forgot any.

Silver Strand

Silver Strand is in the beach community of Coronado close to the Hotel Del Coronado. Silver Strand does not allow tent camping so please do not bring your Big Agnes tent and try to set it up. With that being said, all of the RV’s park in a parking lot and the beach is right in front of you. You will need to bring all of your beach toys including your Coleman cooler to have a fun day under the sun!
