Acworth, Georgia has several good campgrounds. The campgrounds all have the feel of being far away from the city, but are really close to the city which makes it nice in case you forgot any of your camping equipment.
McKinney campground
From Junction I-75 (exit 121/278) and Glade Rd: Go 4 miles northeast on Glade Rd, then 3/4 miles west on King's Camp Rd and follow signs.

McKinney campground has 150 camping sites. The campground is open year for tent camping. McKinney campground features laundry, camping grills, picnic tables, and fire rings. You can also enjoy swimming in the lake, fishing, or boating. There is a boat dock on site.
Military Park campground
From Interstate I-75 go 4 miles south on Sandtown Road.

Military Park campground is open to military personnel only. The campground features a camping equipment store, picnic tables, fire rings, and a playground for the kids. For fun, make sure you try the canoeing or a friendly game of softball on the sports field! One nice feature is that the store sells limited groceries also in case you forgot anything when cooking dinner on your Camp Chef camping grill.
Payne campground
From Junction I-75 (exit 120/277) and Hwy 92: Go 1 mile north on Hwy 92, then 2¾ miles west on Kellogg Creek Rd.

Payne campground is open from April 1 to Labor Day. Pets are welcomed at this campground. The campground features lake swimming, fishing, a playground, and a boat dock. No ATV’s or ORV’s are allowed.
